Terres des Sept Couleurs
The seven colored lands are a geological formation and an eminent tourist attraction found in the plain of Chamarel of the district of Black River in the southwest of Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colors (about red, brown, purple, green, blue, purple and yellow). The main characteristic of the place is that since these sands of different colors are deposited spontaneously in different layers, the dunes acquire a surreal and striped coloration. Another interesting feature of the colorful lands of Chamarel is that the dunes never cancel out, despite the torrential torrential rains of Mauritius.
