Guide across the Island
The garden of Pamplemousses is known by botanists all over the world for the great collection of native and exotic plants that grow there, including the giant water lilies (Victoria amazonica) and the many species of palm trees.
The talipot (Corypha umbraculifera) is a very special tree. According to legend, it blooms only once the fifty and seventy years and then later dies.

Cap Malheureux is the northernmost part of the island. It is from here that the Commander-in-Chief John Abercrombie landed with his troops when the British attacked the island for the second time in 1810.
In addition, Cap Malheureux owes its importance to a small chapel: Our Lady Auxiliary, commonly known as the chapel with the red roof. Once there, just enjoy the quality of the framing work and its enormous clams at the entrance
